About The Cooperative
Thank you for your interest in joining the ShenArts Artist Cooperative (SAC) art gallery. Memberships are open to practicing artists and fine-crafts persons living and working in the Shenandoah Valley. This is our inaugural membership drive for the gallery, and we are excited to be launching a space in the heart of downtown Winchester. 2D fine art, textile art, mixed media and 3D fine crafts artisans are all encouraged to apply.

Our Membership Committee will be taking several factors into consideration when jurying artists. Jury evaluation will prioritize artistic merit, marketability, gallery fit, and professionalism.
As a cooperative gallery, we also put a high value on artists who are willing to be active members with skill sets that can contribute to the success of the gallery and its artists. Our application includes questions about your availability, experience and skills to help us with our planning for the operation of the gallery.
SAC’s mission is to nurture artistic expression and community--and to promote mutual growth and the sharing of resources. SAC is committed to representing the full spectrum of the Shenandoah Valley community. We encourage artists of color, LGBTQIA+ artists, young emerging artists and underrepresented artists to apply. SAC also offers a scholarship program to assist in this endeavor. Click here to learn more about the program.

Due to the limited space within the gallery, we have an inventory and size limit on two-dimensional artworks consisting of 6 pieces, not exceeding 36 inches on any side. The inventory should be maintained by the artists, replacing pieces as they sell. At this time, there is no inventory limit on three-dimensional inventory, such as pottery, jewelry, fine crafts, etc.
